Shiny lithops flowers (2 pics)

I find it really hard to capture lithops flowers because the most beautiful part is the silky shine. It is tricky to catch it on camera. Fortunately by flowering in the afternoon the plants give us the best setting. The light from out of the window is barely touching the petals while the plant itself is in the shadows. And then the golden glow appears.
I bet with better equipment the pictures would turn out much better but at least the shine is visible :)

  2. That's really quite nice. I love the darkened background. It makes the flower glow from within. A new wallpaper photo for my computer. Thank you. :)

    1. No photoshop was involved in those pictures ;)

      Thank you very much :)

There are a couple more buds but no sun these days to make them open....

  3. It is so hard to even get a "lightened petals" picture. All mine with white flowers look dark lol. Good job Rika !

I normally have the opposite - flowers turn to a white or yellow blur if the light is too bright. In dim afternoon light the glow turns out much better and the petals are better defined.

You know, you can do much more with a darker picture than a light one in Photoshop. Just play with the contrast to help bring out your "whites" ;)
