Titanopsis primosii

I already own two cute Titanopsis calcarea plants but the leaf structure ist so interesting and unusual that I got another one. This one is a Titanopsis primosii and its leaves look like they were adorn with cyan colored beads. How does nature produce this stuff? :D

  1. I have a bunch that I grew from seed about 11 months ago and some of them have their first buds. I am so excited! Mine are more of a brownish color though.

    1. First buds with 11 months? What a productive species! Congrats :) I've bought this one with already dried up flowers that's why, I guess, I won't see any more flowers on it this year. Good luck with yours!

    2. You will see its flower this winter, Rika. Even this year probably :))) Titanopsis is a winter grower and it blossoms in winter too (in northern hemisphere at least). Mine do that at late december usually.

    3. Oh, you're right Eugine. My calcarea had flowers in January so primosii probably will too. :) Enough time to acclimate then))

  2. Long natural selection... Their mimicry is one of the best among the succulents with rosettes of leaves. Professor Marloth discovered the first titanopsis having leaned against something he thought was the lifeless limestone rock and squashed tiny plants.
I own calcarea, but primosii is must-have too.

    1. True. This is amazing. Everytime I see photos from the habitat I think the plants (Lithops) look exactly like the stones around them. With Lithops it's the color and pattern compination, but with Titanopsis and such it's the whole structure! The sand grain texture is imitated perfectly.

    1. Thanks :)
Lithops aren't that popular in regular nurseries so the seed thing goes over the internet mainly. I do have seeds, just send me an email, it's in the profile.

  4. The cyan colouring is quite amazing. I've never seen a real one, but from pictures on the net T. Hugo Schlechteri also has cyan bits - and a whole lot more. If I walked past one I don't think I'd be able to resist buying it.

    1. Hi :)
Yes, I was smitten by the color, too. Just had to buy it. Hope it will grow well at my place. Hugo-schlechteri is another "want" for me, it's so pretty, the color, the texture!
