The flower I bought my A. schooneesii with has opened yesterday. So pretty with the thin red lines on the petals. There's no evening sun on my window sill this time of the year and it's difficult to take sharp pictures without a flash. Still, these darker photos have something surreal to them I really like.
Hey Rika, you are a very busy blogger! You have lovely plants and the most wondrous fact is you grow them all on a window sill! You cannot imagine how much hassle I have growing Lithops and relatives on a window sill - even below a bright roof window with lots of ventilation! :-S
ReplyDeleteIndeed your A. schooneesii flower is very special (red lines on the petals). Congrats for your success.

Hi Andy,
DeleteSo true - growing Lithops (and such) at home on a window sill is a different kind of challenge. It must be a "promising" window sill to start with and even then it takes time to find out about the proper care under these conditions. Some species just refuse to play along, it seems. It's a hassle but very rewarding at the end. :)
Thanks you! This isn't particularly my success since I bought it with a flower bud not long ago but I hope to be able to take care of it peroperly from now on. :)
I love it - these do get some nice caudex development as they get older.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the pictures online as I googled the species! They can get very nice and interesting with time. Not that the feelings of this tiny one get hurt. :)
DeleteThese meaty leaves are quite Lithops-like aren't they?
Yes much plumper than others.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful plant and flower, and great photo too, considering the conditions. Is the flower scented? :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's dark and raining all the time. I don't think it's scented, I don't have a fine sense of smell though :)
