My youngest seedlings are doing fine so far. Aloinopsis schooneesii are cute as a button. Aloinopsis malherbei are growing 2nd and 3rd true leaves which finally look much flatter and malherbei-like. Among the Aloinopsis "giants" two little Frithias are hiding. They seem to enjoy some shade.
PS: Sorry for taking so long answering the comments and emails. It's difficult during the week. I really need to buy one of those smartphones kids use nowadays so that I can write from the bus ;)

I think you are doing just fine dealing with a new time consuming job, growing great mesembs, and sharing your wonderful plants with us. Thank You Very Much.
ReplyDeleteAll the youngsters look great. Great photos also. I really want to grow Frithias again, and I hope Mesa Gardens has them on their list next year. If not I'll to look elsewhere. You're going to have a great collection of Aloinopsis. But.....just how big is that windowsill of yours?? :D
Thank YOU for reading and commenting :)
DeleteMy windowsil is 151x29 cm to be exact :D
And as you see seedlings of 3 different kinds have to share a 5cm pot!
*sigh* Aloinopsis, I want them all.... The seedlings start to look like something, don't they? :) Exciting phase.
5cm pot??? so they must be really small! how are they now?
ReplyDeletethey already look beautiful!
Ah, sorry, just checked, it's 6,5 cm, muuuuch bigger XD
DeleteIt is a recent photo, last weekend. They look fine so far, appropriate for their age (almost two months) :) Frithias are always tiny at first and the others grow 2nd and 3rd pairs of true leaves at the moment.
Thank you!
lovely tiny plants :)
DeleteVery beautiful plants! Thank you for sharing the pictures! Even Aloinopsis schooneesii are like the buttons :) but it already tended to be like an mature plants. Dots, leaves form, color are like on the mature one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading :)
DeleteThis is an advantage of other mesembs over lithops, I think. While with lithops we have to wait for a long time to see adult-like colors and markings and shapes, other mesembs start to look mature much quicker (even though they are still small). I'm discovering other mesembs at the moment :)
But lithops are of course far from forgotten!!
