Busy days

Yes, I'm still around. It have been really busy weeks or even months. I barely manage to look at my plants at all. A couple didn't make it, but most of them are far enough with the regeneration for this time of the year.

Also, remember me wondering what the plants that started regenerating way too early will do in winter. Well, here's the answer. They just do it all over again... We'll see how this'll work out for them.

  1. Hi Rika!

They all look great! I too have lost some over summer. How clever the 'Sulphurea' are to have two change of clothes. :)

    Best wishes.

    1. Hi :) Thanks~
Yes, there are always losses. I dream of more room for plants to grow a lot of plants from seeds~

Hope it goes well for the Sulphurea...

  2. They are looking good, Rika, all things considered. We have had crazy weather, too, and I lost 2 Lithops- they started to re-leaf too soon, didn't have enough strength to manage the transition. Spring should start in March in the Northern Hemisphere, not January!

    1. Yes, I hope mine will take their time and wait until the sun finally comes to stay. :) I have several that are already finished but I'm not watering because it's dark and they would grow long...
Regeneration is a difficult time for lithops. There are always those that don't make it over the winter months...

  3. Well well well... Very interesting indeed. Growing in double time!

The C248s are looking lovely with the pinkish new leaves.

    1. More like they get 4 times smaller. :) It's interesting but makes it even more difficult for the plant to survive the regeneration. This Sulphurea has to digest two pairs of leaves - for each head! I'm a bit pessimistic but we'll see.

      Love the C248s <3

    1. Hi Marc,
Yeah I don't know how to make them do things (regenerate, bloom) in sinc either... The conditions mine grow in are the best I can give them at the moment, so.. Will have to work :)

Got the C248 from Atomic Plant Nursery. The plants I got from there were all in the best (compact) condition and, now a year later, all survived the transition, which is rare. ;) Got only the best things to say about the seller.

  5. Yikes... I didn't realise they have it so tough in winter. Poor things. Holding thumbs for them.

    1. Only the toughest survive. With some exceptions of course (those die the next winter XD ).
I sound pessimistic but after years of growing these guys you get to know which plants have the potential for a long life. :)
Own experience: self-grown lithops are the toughest!
