Here are two of my mesemb trays, the neat ones. :D
I really like it when pots with lithops alternate with other mesembs (and Avonias, of course). It makes it into a mini garden with lots of things to discover.
Wow! Neat, yes, but what a good eye for the relationships between the plants. You could have a job at our place anytime!!! (if we could afford to hire anyone, that is!)
Hello~ The trays have holes in them. I use them for stability (this way the pots don't get knocked over) and convenience (I can put the trays with plants aside quickly to open the window). I water the plants from above but I don't water them all at once, only those that need it. :)
Thank you JL! :) It's a south facing window. In Germany we don't have many sunny days but when we do the plants get a lot of sunlight (and sometimes really high temperatures).
Hi Rika, so glad to visit your blog. I'm a new in succulents plants, even in lithops. i love your living stones, specially the ones in green. so beautiful. i have one question so far, where did you get them??? online or in some local nursery? coz i wanna have my mini lit hops garden as well.
Hello and nice to meet you :) Thanks! If I buy adult plants I buy them online from specialized nurseries here in Germany. But they also sometimes have them in local stores: their plants are often in bad shape and you will have to ask around in forums to find out their names probably. Sometimes you're lucky and can get well grown plants even in a local store. Other than that there's still a possibility of growing them from seed. It takes a lot of time but the plants are much more likely to survive and are definitely stronger. Hope you can find a place to buy lithops and can start your own lithops garden!! :)
hi rika. this is a very lovely point of view. a wonderful picture of your collection. I will keep this picture in mind by building up my collection of mesembs. by by
Hi MAR :) Thanks! I really like to mix lithops with other mesembs, it makes a more interesting display with lots to discover for me as well for my guests. Growing these plants is to be able to enjoy their beauty as much as possible :)
Gosh, I wish I could be that neat. :( (Rushes outside to pull weeds out of his pots.........>)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your garden ;) I'd work there all day~

ReplyDeleteThank you! :D I'd love to work with plants/in a greenhouse. Maybe one day I'll have my own, who knows.. One can dream.
DeleteLovely Rika, looks inviting, would want to spend some time there!
ReplyDeleteI spend quite some time at my windowsill :) Thanks!
DeleteHi Rika, how do you water your plants? Taking them out of the tray & watering them individually or just water them as they are in the tray?
ReplyDeleteHello~

Too lovely. Prettier than any picture, ornament or piece of furniture could ever be. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! :) I'm very proud of my "garden"

ReplyDeleteI couldn´t have expressed it better. =D
All your plants look perfect. I still wonder what you do they feel so comfortable at your place... ;o)
Andreas
Thank you Andreas! :)
DeleteI just watch them closely and try to react quickly to their needs. But I still do have losses and problem cases.
Looking great!!!

ReplyDeleteis this a south/north facing window???
JL
Thank you JL! :)

Beautifully grown mesembs - a lovely mixture. What medium do you use to grow them in? Also, does this differ to what you sow your seeds in?
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon :)
DeleteI use pure pumice for all of my plants and I sow in it, too. It's quite practical this way.
