Aaaah so pretty!!
.... and then it got weird.

    1. Lithops flowers stay open at the very end. Fulviceps flower just open "too wide" :)

  2. Lol! What happened? At least it bloomed. Imagine how tiresome it would be to keep all those petals up. How long do the flowers usually bloom for? :-)

    1. Oh no, it hasn't withered or anything! :) It will probably bloom for another week or so. It could find the strenth to completely close the flower a couple of hours later and will open it today "all the way" again ;)

    2. Ah, they can bloom for a long time if they're not pollinated.

    3. Oh really, that's very interesting. So we have a bit of a performer in front of us? A comedian perhaps? Lol. The tutu is a nice metaphor! Bravo to the Aurea swan lake princess! :-)

  3. The flower makes me think of a ballerina in a white skirt and sort of fluffy yellow bodice tilted forward to take a bow, not to be outdone by the Frithia divas...

    1. Ballerina skirt, green lithops bodies with some pollen fallen on them. It's very cute :)
I've resized the first pic to be my desktop backgound for a while..

    1. Thanks! Lithops flowers are little miracles.

  6. Very beautiful. How wide is the diameter of the flower? Can you hand pollinate it.

    1. I can't tell now (in the morning) how wide it is, I'll check later, when it's open. To polinate a Lithops flower you need another flower of the same kind. I only have this one at the moment.
