  3. Khenai, thank you! I've never seen such a plant "in person". i have another otzeniana here (2 heads), and compared to this it looks just sad being so skinny. might also be because i don't have good condition here for it to grow properly, which is why i want to send this one home to germany ASAP.... don't really know how to do it though..

  4. Bololoch, yes, i'm amazed myself! :) it's fat and huge - but also healthy looking (i've seen enough overfed plants, haha). it seems to have doubled it's leaf count every year, and the newest lobes look just as fat and huge as the previous ones. it's very near to the ground so it definitelly got a lot of sun.. the soil seems to be pumice sand with small amount of cacti soil - i guess it's as poor as pumice stones.. apart from that I don't know how they've managed to grow it looking like this! i want to know it's secret!

  5. Wow, that's a beauty!
I'm so envious! I've been trying to grow otzeniana from seeds but haven't had any luck yet.
... I'm currently trying again... maybe this time I'll have more luck!

  6. yes, indeed, it's absolutely amazing! whoever's been taking care of this plant before I bought it really knew what s/he was doing. I'd be so proud to be able to grow such a beautiful plant from seed myself oneday...

  7. @Petra: ps: i haven't had much luck with growing otzeniana from seed either. maybe only 5 seedlings germinated last time and they were only a half year old as i left for japan. no idea if they survived... would be nice :)
